The Fluoride in water War

Some of the ‘health’ excesses of the last few years are now been dealt with, now that the vaccine mandates are mostly gone.

Various groups have been actively persuading local city council members to rethink their decisions.

The Whangarei council then decided against fluoridation..

A Government Health official (Diana Sarfati) threatened to ‘overide’ their decision.

Then, suddenly, she resigns along with two other staff.

Hmm, This same scenario keeps playing out in NZ.

1 -Local group makes a decision

2 -Some big authority person threatens them

3 -That big authority person ‘resigns’

House painting -pragmatism over perfection

After applying 140 litres of oil stain, we have finished oil-staining our house.

One of the quirks of oil-staining is that you don’t have much of a say in what the final colour will be.

We were advised not to paint the decks, otherwise you will have a job repainting them forever.

We did paint the stairs though, because they get a hard life from the weather.

If you are a perfectionist, I guess there’s always a bit more to paint, or perhaps touch that up a bit better.

There’s a time to stop though, and say it’s good enough.

On to the next project…

A house for chickens

While I’ve been painting all the difficult parts of our house, my wife and daughters have been assembling a chicken area.

It was quite a process to put the frame together, put wire netting all over it, and tie it on.

Next up was a chicken coop which I quickly made out of old pallets.

Once we brought some nesting boxes and all the other bits and piece’s, we were ready..

Several days later, my wife managed to track down a few chickens.

There are some breeds of chickens out there which are ideal for laying eggs, like ‘brown shavers’ for example. Other breeds are good for eating. Getting the ‘right’ breed requires patience and good timing.

We didn’t have time for that sort of thing, so we got some ‘Coronation Sussex’ chickens which is an older ‘heritage’ breed.

At this point, we are getting an egg a day.
