Ah, I can still hear the popular refrain from two years ago, “we have to follow the science!” Well, let’s see how closely we have to follow the science now that science has spoken on mask mandates: The word “useless” works. I’m not going to suggest we get all snarky about this. If you were […]
With the mandates mostly gone, the hysteria’s mostly been replaced with confusion, regret, and a realisation that everything’s been crazy for the last two years.
The only holdouts tend to be office workers who work from home, and retired people, who are socially isolated and rely solely on the MSM (main stream media), which gives a rather distorted view of things.
This is illustrated beautifully by the event which happened to friends of ours..
“A group of mostly home-schooled children & parents visited Auckland Museum on the first day the vax mandates were dropped. They’d been shut out for 8 months (with lockdown). The kids were so excited. The first people entered showing their mask exemptions & were told: you need to wait here while we “verify these exemptions”. They never came back. What happened next was unbelievable. They locked every single entry and exit from the building. No one could get in or out. Not one person came out to talk with the group. Internal communication quickly labelled the gathering as “protestors” but there was no protest, simply a bunch of kids really wanting to see their favourite exhibits. People tried 📞 to figure out what was going on. No one seemed to know. Simply put, the staff were paralysed over not having a policy for dealing with multiple mask-exempt visitors on their premises. Disappointed, the group left after a 1.5 hour wait & the doors reopened an hour later.”
This link is from a non MSM source and is very accurate.
Local clubs and organisations are now trying to rebuild their depleted membership numbers. It’s likely that those that regretfully turned away the unvaccinated will be forgiven, while those who did it with glee, not so much.
We have since visited an organisation that has shown some contrition over the whole mandate thing, but in general we are keeping to ourselves and supporting the businesses and people, who have supported us throughout the whole mandate thing.
The vaccine mandates and passports will be gone in New Zealand on April 4, which is a week away.
The Government is currently trying to hold several positions at once about the whole thing, but it still appears they are losing ground in the polls.
Since the announcement, Some of us unvaccinated are now getting emails, that invite us to rejoin the clubs, etc that kicked us out 4 months ago. I’ve even been invited for a ‘healthy heart’ checkup from my local doctor.
I don’t know weather to be happy or sad about this, or just be plain angry about it.
There is anger at what we were put through, anger at been treated as lepers, unable to play sports, go to cafés, etc.
Anger at the lost opportunities for the kids. This in itself really gets me, because I’ve spent the last 15 years trying to give the kids the best possible start in life, with opportunities that I never had.
It just seems so cost free moralistic for society to just expect us to rejoin them, as if nothing happened.
There are the unvaccinated who lost their jobs, and some of them are still traumatized by this.
I spent some time before Xmas with people who were ostracised from their families and ‘friends’. Even some churches were turning away the unvaccinated.
It still isn’t over of course, because the Government has mentioned using their emergency powers as a way of controlling the flu.
All of this has led to a lack of trust and confidence in society as a whole, which is why the unvaccinated have got together in small groups all over the country in the first place. Some are now talking of a parallel economy (effectively an economy that is separate from the state)
I’m not sure what to think of all this right now. We may have won and got rid of the vaccine passports and most of the mandates, but will it last?
The Wellington protest was destroyed by the NZ Police in rather unethical terms on 23 February. At present, there are @ 1500 complaints to the police complaints authority (PCA). Given the widespread use of phones and camera’s on that fateful day, I would expect some fallout in the future.
