A visit to Fieldays

Fieldays is the largest agricultural event in the southern hemishere with 1100 exhibitors.

Somehow, I managed to get a photo with few people in it.. It was crowded everywhere else..

Getting there requires a bit of strategy, otherwise you can get stuck in bumper to bumper traffic like we did for a long 90 minutes.

The size of the event means you can’t possibly see everything in one day, which means it’s better just to find what interests you.

It’s curiously narrow minded and focuses on the dairy industry and heavy farm machinery, etc.

As geese and duck owners, there wasn’t a lot there of relevance to us, although we did sus out a few greenhouse stalls and just the one exibitor with chicken equipment.

The highlight for my daughter and I, was the tractor pulling competitions.

Food was really expensive there, but they had a captive audience which meant really long queues regardless of the cost.

We elected to leave early and get something to eat on the way home. That way we didn’t get stuck in traffic twice..
