Animal interactions

Cat vs dog (a very old fox terrier)

Round one  -They had a standoff, then suddenly the cat ran off, and a very asthmatic dog tried to keep up.(dog was wheezing like an old smoker)

Round two  -Same as above, dog is a slow learner, and has no show of ever catching the cat.

Cat vs chickens -cat ‘hunts’ the chickens, but they just ignore her

Cat vs ducks -cat just stays away from those strange things….

Cat vs Geese

Round one -cat tried stalking them until she got hissed at.

Round two   -cat stalks, geese mostly just ignore

Round three + -cat gets into their compound, stalks them, but can’t get back out again when it turns to custard -typically needs rescuing

Chickens vs ducks

Round one -chickens thought they were high and mighty until the drake (male duck) took a bite at the real bossy chicken. The chickens got very chicken after that.

Round two -that bossy chicken attacked the drake straight away, in a tit for tat exchange, then they realised the chickens have the numbers (6 vs 3).

Round three -yeah, nah, we wont let that happen….

Mother duck vs chickens  – The chickens are envious  and have got rather clucky.

Mother duck vs cat – cat stays away from mother and her ducklings, mum is very defensive, and easily triggered.

Geese vs ducks  They seem to get along, but the geese are prone to biting the ducks at feeding time, the ducks don’t mind/care. (water off a ducks back?).

The geese eventually get tired of energetic ducklings though, and chase them out of their area.

Geese vs chickens They peck at each other in an endless tit for tat affair.
