For some reason, just about every bike I’ve ever had needs the fork seals replacing at some point after they start leaking oil.
I even have a special tool for fitting the new seals in.
My oldest daughters Honda sprung a leak on the right hand fork, which progressively got worse. The left hand one was good, but I replaced it anyway, because it’s likely to fail anyway in the near future.
The first job is to jack up the front of the bike, and remove the front wheel.
From here it’s a matter of removing the forks, which are only held in with a few bolts.

It’s notable that the old leaking seal had been ‘got at’ by a previous owner, which probably caused the problem, then water got in there and made things worse by causing it to rust.

The previous owner probably didn’t have the proper fork seal tool. It may have been one of those “universal” tools, such as a screwdriver.
