Doing petrolhead stuff with the kids -again

This time it was go-karts. My youngest has gone off motorbikes for now, after having a bit of an ‘off’ recently.

No matter, I booked us into a few sessions at Hampton Downs, just south of Auckland.

We were a bit lucky that the weather held and the track was mostly dry. You have to book in advance and if it’s wet, they postpone the whole thing.

We turned up with just a bit of moisture on the track which made it surprisingly slippery for our first race.

As I suspected would happen, my oldest daughter flew ahead and was consistently faster than me. Way back in third was my youngest, distantly followed by my dear wife (Captain Slow).

The second and third races were a repeat of the first, except the times were faster with a dry track.
