Another week of up’s and downs in New Zealand

The final day came and went for nurses, midwives, teachers, and firefighters to get vaccinated or loose their jobs.
It appears that most of the teachers capitulated at the last moment.


The firefighters got a time extension until the end of the month. It’s not hard to work out why -most of them are volunteers that are spread all over rural NZ. You only need to lose the only qualified fire truck driver, and you have a huge problem.

There are two large protests that are scheduled for the coming weekend.

The ‘Mother of all protests’ organised by the Freedom and rights coalition on Saturday.
It’s pretty self evident what they are protesting about (the clue is in the name)
There last protest backfired somewhat -They created massive traffic jams, which created a lot of anger because the average person simply treated it as an inconvenience without looking into why they were protesting.

These are the farmers and growers that are protesting about unworkable regulations that could put farms out of bussiness, It’s also about the government trying to take the water supply systems away from towns and cities and handing control over to the indigenious people (Maori’s). (I am 5/32 Maori by the way)

We were led to believe there would be a big announcement on the 29th November, about Xmas for Auckland which has been locked within it’s own borders for months. However, out of nowhere, the Goverment announced in a piecemeal way that travel out of Auckland would be possible over Xmas. (they really had to do this, otherwise, they will lose their base voters trust).

As per usual thou, the arrangements dont make logical sense.
Vaccinated people can travel as long as they have a vaccination certificate to prove it.
Unvaccinated people must have a negative test to prove they are covid free before they can travel.

The pfizer vaccination doesn’t stop the transmission of covid to other people, and merely reduces symptoms at best. This means they are going to spread covid all over the (relatively covid free) country, and it’s the double vaccinated who will be responsible for doing this.

These announcements were probably done in order to get the pressure off the Goverment, and logic wasn’t a priorty.

One of the conclusions we can gather from the events of this week is simply this..

When they fired 1300 Healthcare staff for not complying with the vaccine mandate early this week, obviously the covid pandemic can’t be a big deal, and the compulsory vaccination mandates are actually about something else.

A week of protests in NZ


Tuesday

I went to another protest on Tuesday. It turned out to be quite small, but then again, there were at least 2 other protests going on in Auckland at the same time. I think the protests around Auckland were smaller but more numerous because it was a work day and also that the police have been arresting organisers to take then out of the picture.

The anger is still out there, so the protests now tend to be more spontanous.

The major protest by far on Tuesday was outside parliament in Wellington. Accurate numbers are hard to come by, but it seems to have been about 10,000 to 15,000 people.
It’s notable that the media was harrassed by the crowd, as they are now seen as part of the problem with all the scaremongering they have done on behalf of the Government. (the government had paid them $55 million, but only if they meet certain ‘conditions’)

No members of parliament spoke to the assembled crowd. The reason given was “security issues”. To give you an idea how pathetic the excuse is -the organisations involved were….

Freedoms | The Freedoms & Rights Coalition (tfrc.org.nz) -This is run by a christian church with Brian Tamaki as it’s leader.

Voices for Freedom -This was founded by 3 women. They represent mostly nurses, teachers, midwives, etc in their battle against mandatory vaccines.

This day was significant because any nurses, teachers, midwives, etc, who aren’t vaccinated are going to lose their jobs, and these people made up the bulk of the demonstrators.

Wednesday and Thursday

The media and the government had been ignoring any protest’s so far, until Tuesday when the big demostration in Wellington caught them off guard.

Since then, various politians have been ‘revising’ what they have previously said on various issues, and ducking and diving. The media has been running with various narratives eg,-They were ‘domestic terrorists’ who ‘might’ have been armed.

These are known as ‘false flag’ operations and there were several attempts to regain and control the narrative throughout the week.

Friday 2PM was the deadline for the protestors demands to be met.

Saturday arrived with nothing substantial from the Government apart from alluding to bad consequences.

It happened to be raining, and my daughters tennis got postponed, This meant we could all go to the great gridlock instead. The plan was to drive slowly on Aucklands motorways in a big block. There were so many of us, that we ended up in various blocks.

We had organised to lockup the motorway in both directions, which meant there was a sort of carnival atmosphere when we passed other demonstraters going the other way. It was a real cool atmosphere, and the kids were in the back making signs and putting them against the windows. It was raining quite heavy at times, and I was so caught up in the moment, I forgot to get some decent pictures….
