The caring New Zealand of old, is coming back

In pre-covid times, NZ was a nice place and people were very considerate to each other.

It was the sort of place, where if someone saw a dog get run over, they would either take it to a vet or find the owner. It happened to us twice with our cat ‘Red’ in 2015. He was a young cat that couldn’t resist chasing birds. (It soon turned out he didn’t have nine lives afterall, only two).

So, after a three year hiatus, It was heartening to see motorists slow down on a busy road, because of a dog that was disorientated and confused.

It left me with a sense of hope for the future.

The vaccine injured are not going away..

Shared from another app. NZ may have moved on without addressing their past actions, but the vaccine injured are still out there, even if no one wants to know.

Meanwhile in Christchurch – THIS IS WHAT DEDICATION TO A CAUSE LOOKS LIKE…

In Christchurch, every Friday for the past 43 weeks (come rain or shine), you will find a small group of dedicated volunteers standing at the Bridge of Remembrance in Christchurch

Glenda reports…

Every week we have members of the public stopping to read and then comment on the vaccine injury story board signs. and we see more and more folk “waking up” to the lies they have been told. It is always good to connect with these people.

Our core group consists of 10-15 of us who are at the Bridge rain, hail or shine and others who attend when they can. We end every stand with the National Anthem and coffee, always a happy and positive vibe. I have attached a couple of photos for you, we keep a photographic record of every Vigil.

A little piece of paradise

It’s been a turbulent few years in NZ, and the challenge has been to stay ‘grounded’ and not get swept away in all the hysteria.

So it is refreshing to find somewhere to find somewhere that is still the same as it was back in the 1980’s when I first discovered it

Introducing the Hot pools at Parakai Springs..

The indoor hot pool

It’s exactly the way I remember it been in the 1990’s.

I remember spending hours going down these hydroslides, then relaxing in the the hot pool.
After that it was time for a decent burger (which they still make!), and then a ride home in the dark on an XS650 (the bike in the front)

Riding the 650 was an experience in itself, especially at night, when you only have the sound of the bike, a cold cool night, and an open face helmet.

30 years later, I’m here with my wife and kids. I’m a bit less enthusiatic about the hydroslides because I’ve already got the T-shirt, but I did have a few goes after some nudging from the kids.

There are 2 hydroslides, one fast and a slower one.
The burgers were so good, they were eaten before I could take a photo, so here’s one of the cafe instead…
