Now that the dust has settled and the gaslighting has stopped, we can see very clearly just how comical the whole saga was.
First, some background…
An openly lesbian person completes a teaching degree in the UK
She couldn’t get a teaching job, so she joined the British Navy, where they served in what appears to be mostly paper shuffling.
From there she gets a job with the NZ navy, and is given command of a ship.
Visits NZ with her wife, and decides to stay here.
Applies for a job with the NZ navy who decide to rapidly promote her due to DEI idealogy.

The ship is running on autopilot (automatic) off the Samoan coast, and is headed towards a reef.
The crew can’t get the ship to change direction because….-it’s on autopilot
Eventually they call the captain up to the bridge
(legally, she should have been on the bridge all this time, because they were close to land)
At 18:17:20, The Captain arrives on the bridge
At 18:17:36 A whole 16 seconds later, the captain calls up ‘AA’ onto the bridge. It turns out that ‘AA’ is the only one on board who really knows how to use the propulsion system.
This underlines her personality, theres a person in the background doing the hard yards, which she takes all the credit for.
At 18:17:59 , the ship runs aground
At 18:19:10 , person ‘AA’ is instructed to fix the problem as they are the only one able on board who understands the propulsion system.
At 18:27:34 , There’s a discussion about taking the boat out of autopilot….
Thats the point when they realise their mistake. The ship is now sinking and the captain starts behaving as if she’s in a movie starring herself, but remember how she trained as a school teacher?
At 18:47:24 , She instructs the crew to abandon ship, but to go to the toilet first, and get some warm clothing.
Like she’s leading a bunch of primary school kids about to hop on a bus.
At 18:48:55 , She repeats the instruction to abandon ship, but get some warm clothing and go to the toilet first.
At 18:50:10 , She says just to get off the ship.
Don’t worry about doing wee’s and poo’s anymore..

In the end, it doesnt say much about the NZ navy does it?, it’s plainly not a place that helps to be the best you can, regardless of who you are.
The problem is not the Captains sexuality in itself, it’s simply that she identifies as that first and formost, and been a competant captain wasn’t high on her list of priorities.
It is interesting how the NZ public were initially gaslit over the sinking, with accusations of homophobia, etc. As you can see from the report, the captains actions are indefensible, and they knew that from day one.
