A guide towards self reliance and resilience

It became apparent during the covid years that governments aren’t nessessily your friend and they have influence in a lot of places.

  • Kids were pushed out of sports, because the funding from the Sports Foundation became ‘conditional’.
  • Churches started turning away the unvaccinated, because they figured they would attract more people, if ‘they’ weren’t there.
  • People were mandated out of their jobs
  • Schools were closed at the drop of a hat with little or no notice.
  • Nationwide chain stores followed government ‘guidelines’ without question. (Small private stores had various reactions)

This was all done in the name of ‘stopping’ the virus, on the lie that the vaccine stops transmission. (it doesn’t and never did) and that it’s for your health and your own good.

To this day, there is no acknowledgement of any wrongdoing on their part.

This has led me to working towards reducing any reliance on organisations that are prone to government whims of the day, to lesson the risk of future ‘interference’.
It also means I have no real interest in this years general election, because it’s now very apparent that politics are not the answer to NZ’s problems.

If you an older person, it’s easier to transition to a more resilient lifestyle, simply because you only need to think in terms of how things were done in the 1980’s before EFTPOS, computers, Facebook, and all that other modern stuff which can be manipulated by a malign organisation.

Use Cash

  • Cash is King
  • Any electronic transactions are traceable and prone to ‘cancellations’ as they do in China.

Social media

  • Facebook, Google, etc may enhance your life, but they can be used against you. Facebook in particular will block or ‘censor’ posts that they don’t agree with.
  • I no longer have any private info on facebook, and only use it for intelligence gathering.
  • If you are a social person, you could just talk to people directly like they did in the old days…

Cell phones..

  • I survived the 1980’s without one. These are prone to getting ’emergency’ alerts for non-existent emergencies.
  • They are also easily trackable.
  • You can use a faraday cage and a VPN, but the easiest way is not have a phone at all.
  • You could use a non smart phone, or an outdated model that isn’t supported anymore.
  • or leave the phone at home and treat it like a landline.

Crime

This is quietly getting worse, but gets downplayed because it’s election year.. (thats what happens when the media get bribed by the government)
Don’t be a victim, and don’t think like one. A victim attitude just invites trouble.
We installed security camera’s etc, just prior to the first lockdown for peace of mind.

Food

Inflations going to make this expensive, but foods something you cant go without. Grow a garden. it’s hard work at first and it took ages before I got it working well. There’s something satisfying about eating stuff out of your own garden. Also stock up on preservable food

Coping with no electricity

We installed a fireplace which takes care of cooking and heating.
We also have a 12 Volt system in the house which takes care of lights and USB chargers. We even have a car stereo for entertainment.
Temporary power for the fridge is from a petrol generator. The idea here is to run it for several hours a day until the fridge is empty, then live on our other food reserves if we need to.

Coping with no water

This is a potential issue because of the ongoing political battle’s over the ‘ownership’ of water.
To get around this, we are collecting rain water off our roof, and storing it in several tanks.
We have also noted where the nearest creek is, in case we run short.

Transport

We are about as cheap as we can get now with 2 old small cars, and a few small motorcycles

Debt

Get rid of it if you can. As inflation goes up, so will interest rates, which will eat into your budget.

I’ll finish with a meme..
