This has been a year of consolidation for us as a family
Such was the hysteria with covid in 2021/2022, that they even pushed unvaccinated children out of any sports by threatening to withdraw any government funding from soccer clubs, rugby, ballet, etc.
School closures over lockdowns in 2021 disrupted not only their education, but also effected their social skills and confidence.
One of the best decisions we had made at the start of the year, was to enroll our kids in an online school (Mt Hobson), and to join up with the homeschool crowd for social gatherings.
We now position ourselves so that we aren’t solely reliant on any Government or government funded organisation.
The local ‘Voices For Freedom’ (VFF) group have been very supportive throughout the whole covid saga at a time, when so many were ostrasizing the unvaccinated and running around like paranoid squirrels.
As I wrote in a previous post, the kids have done very well this year at their new school. https://uncoffined.wordpress.com/2022/12/20/those-dreaded-words-does-this-outfit-look-ok/
2022 will be a year to forget for most, partly because of the lack of social cohesion thats now becoming apparent.
Covid is everywhere and getting it isn’t a death sentence, unless you already have one foot in the grave.
It seems a lot of families are now talking to each other again, with the mutual understanding that that V subject isn’t mentioned.
To this day, simply going to a cafe wearing VFF gear, seems to set off discussions in the background and if there is one thing that has became obvious to us this year, it’s that people can be fickle and are prone to sustained peer pressure and mass advertising.
Oh, and Government is not the solution to everything.
Merry Xmas to you all, and a happy new year.
Here’s looking forward to a better year next year.

Great to see your daughter enrolled at Mt Hobson. We put our oldest son into that school when it had a physical site on Remuera Road (now something to do with the French Embassy???) and it made him in terms of education. My only regret is that I didn’t put my other kids through as well, because they seemed to be okay in the State school environment – but their education suffered I think, even though they’re doing okay now.
I’m also going to do a post with some of your links, just to try and given added coverage to them.
