It’s the end of the school year and we are going to our daughters prizegiving ceremony.
It requires formal attire which means I’ll be wearing my suit that normally only comes out for weddings and funerals. -all sorted -no sweat
It’s a LOT more complicated when it comes to my wife and daughters though…
Several outfits are paraded in front of me with the dreaded words uttered each time..
‘How does this look?’
OH CRAP
This is a no win situation folks.
Compliments are good, but you can’t do this for every outfit, because obviously, ‘you arent paying attention’!
Honesty could have you sleeping on the couch.
Somehow, I bumbled my way through this minefield, relatively unscathed.
The prizegiving itself had some surprises for my wife and I.
Those who follow my blog will know we pulled our kids out of public school, because covid hysteria meant school closures and no classes for months on end last year.
Our kids now attend an online school, which is similar to home school.
It seems my oldest daughter is a quiet achiever. She got 5 excellence awards out of a possible seven, as well several other awards.
(and here we were thinking she was just doing the bear minimum to pass)
My wife and I are very pleased about it all. We have been doing our best to keep our kids in a good learning environment throughout the ongoing covid saga.
Some things have worked out for the better for us.
