It was my birthday recently, so rather than get the standard boring present (eg Tshirt/shorts/socks that people ‘my age’ typically get), I hinted to my wife that a set of surfskate trucks would be just the thing!

Surfskates were designed to get the same ‘feel’ as a surfboard, so they are a lot more maneuverable. This also means they can be quite unstable.
I have a rather standard longboard, which I’ve got a bit bored with, so thats the board I’ve converted to a surfskate!
Longboards are usually very stable, because they are well, -long.
It now turns a lot easier, but takes a bit to master it, especially at faster speeds. I find you have to move your weight around a lot more -you cant just stand on it like a statue.
I was using 83a grade wheels on it, but these are quite hard and made it quite go quite fast, but not with a lot of grip.
A set of 78a wheels has solved that problem.

Can’t wait to try it out once it stops raining.
