Can Groundswell make a difference?

Groundswell have done 2 nationwide protests so far, which is not a lot, given that Brian Tamaki has organised somewhere over 100.

Their bigger problem though, is that I think they have an optic’s problem (public perception)

Most city folk are completely unaware of the issues, and simply aren’t listening because the issues are too complex to explain simply. This sets up a city vs farmers narrative, simply through a lack of understanding.

This satire website captures the issue quite well..

Another issue is ‘no balls’ . They are terrified of what the media might write about them, which means that the media now effectively control them.
This will be why they have distanced themselves from ‘Voices For Freedom’, and Brian Tamaki and ‘The Freedom and Rights Coalition’, who are essentially on their side.

It is perhaps inevitable that there will be differences between the groups. Personally, I find Brian Tamaki’s religious vigour a bit annoying, but no matter , he is fighting for essentially the same ends, and I have a lot to be grateful to him for, as he helped end the mandates with his numerous protests.

I’ve previously written about Brian Tamaki and his accomplishments.

At this point it seems that Voices for freedom are politely highlighting the farmers concerns, but also keeping a respectful distance.

I think this issue is counterproductive, since it gives the Government the opportunity to divide and conquer.
