Covid- A fear mongerers paradise

It’s been a long few years since covid first arrived on our doorstep.
There has been  hysteria over this ever since, which is mostly driven by  an irresponsible media and politicians using it to push their own agenda’s.
But the chief driver for this is the average persons fear of death or anything unknown. This has been exploited on a regular basis over the years.

For example

-The bush fires in the Amazon jungle a few years ago (it was reported as irreversible damage to the environment and we are all doomed, actually, it’s a natural event that happens every year)
-Australian Bush fires (these also occur naturally, but have been made worse recently by interference in natural process)
-Y2K (all the computers will stop working, because the year 1999 was written as 99 in all the software and it wont handle resetting to zero)
-The ozone layer (the ozone layer will disappear altogether and we will be radiated to death)
-CO2  (we are killing the planet with too much co2, actually, it’s much lower than it has been in the past)
-Climate change (this one is still ongoing, I expect the fear mongerers to return to this one, once the fear of covid has evaporated.

I gave up taking covid seriously last year, when the fear mongering media kept insisting that it affects young people as well, but everytime I researched the story, it turned out to be wrong everytime.
For example
-A young Spanish soccer coach died from covid (he had undiagnosed luekemia (blood cancer))
-A 16 year old girl died in the UK (she actually died of a heart attack and didn’t have covid)
-A whole family died in the UK from covid (the parents were in their 80’s and the morbidly obese daughter in her 60’s died as well)

The horror stories still exist of course, these days they use graphic videos of people on respirators struggling for air.

If you simply looked at the statistics then, and now,  you would realise it effects unhealthy people near the end of their lives. If you have good  health and look after yourself, there is nothing to worry about. If you are elderly and have health problems then take some precautions. (pretty simple really)

(fun fact -the average age of covid death in Australia is 86, average lifespan is 82)

The real problem therefore, is the general public’s hysteria to covid and the resulting actions from this. At this point this manifest’s itself in the form of lockdowns and an expectation to vaccinate.

When NZ had their first lockdown, we were told we are going ‘hard and early’ and that it would only be for 2 weeks. some people were sweep along with the hysteria and were terrified for their lives, others thought the whole thing was quite novel and complied as it was ‘the right responsible thing to do’

The latest lockdown was applied very suddenly, and people are notably not as happy this time around. People just walk around with tense looks on their faces. The paranoid ones wear masks and start having panic attacks if looks like you might go anywhere near them.

These lockdowns are incredibly destructive. As I write this we have been in a strict lockdown for weeks. Food is starting to disappear off supermarket shelves, because smaller shops can’t open, and the Supermarkets can’t cope with the extra demand.
Aggravating this, is the sudden closure for several weeks of supermarkets and food related factories if any staff are tested positive.
Schools are closed and it’s probable that end of year exams wont happen and they would have to do some sort of credit on schoolwork already completed.

When the hysteria finally passes, life probably wont go back to normal, Some shops wont reopen because people learnt to shop online. Inflation will be out of control due to shortages of food and other commodities. Taxes will need to be increased to pay back the extra loans the Government has borrowed.

The tracking systems that were created to help with covid contact tracing wont be dismantled and will be used for other purposes for the sake of control.
A lot of livehoods will have been ruined and the suicide rate will probably be higher than the covid death rate.
